A drawing that represents man's blindness to nature and its essence. I made this artwork to make people think and encourage them to do something about climate change.
READ MORE“Het profielwerkstuk” was a high school project in which you were free to choose what you wanted to do. I decided to create a massive piece of art. The drawing is 75cm x 105cm in size and was created with graphite pencils and graphite powder. It took approximately 150 hours to complete everything, and I also produced a film on the sketching process. This video is displayed below.
With my drawing, I intended to convey a message. I instantly decided that this message had to be about climate change, which I believe is an important topic. That is also why my vision includes sustainability. The man in my artwork is blindfolded and holding a plant. What I want to convey with this is that man is blind to the essence of nature for us as humans. With this, I aim to show that people continue to underestimate the seriousness of climate change and the importance of nature to our survival.
This project has helped me shape my vision as a designer. Nature is vital, and we must all work together to establish a sustainable planet. Furthermore, it contributed to the skills I already had at the start of my first year in the expertise area C&A.
