My first project at Eindhoven University of Technology was VMAZE. The project's goal was to create an educational game with both a physical and digital component. We did this project as part of the From Idea to Design course to gain an understanding of the design process that you go through as a designer, from idea to finished product.
VMAZE, our idea, is a game that teaches you about communication and teamwork. You do this by moving your character through a labyrinth on the playing surface. The game is played by two to four persons. Everyone has a playing field and can see where one of their teammates has to go. The premise is that each player must guide another player while the individual being guided cannot see where to go. As a result, the players learn to communicate with one another and enhance their navigation abilities. This project's video is available below.
